Why Expand Energy is Relocating to Houston

The move to Houston, expected in mid-2026, will primarily involve the leadership team. It places Expand alongside other energy giants, including Exxon Mobil, Chevron, and Devon Energy, who are attracted to the city for its proximity to LNG export terminals, industry peers, and US offices of global energy companies, as per a Houston Chronicle report.

Wichterich explained that the relocation allows the company “to capitalize on Houston’s leading role as a gateway to the global natural gas market,” adding that, “As North America’s largest natural gas producer, this will accelerate our strategy to provide affordable, reliable, lower carbon energy to growing domestic and global markets,” as quoted by Houston Chronicle.
