Former wife of Jeff Bezos, MacKenzie Scott has donated $15 million to provide farmers with glasses to prevent uncorrected blurry vision. The Guardian reported that the donation was the largest for tackling farmers' blurry vision.
The billionaire philanthropist donated a whopping amount to VisionSpring to fight the disease, which renders hundreds of millions of people jobless and pushes them toward poverty. The $15 million donation was announced on World Sight Day and will benefit workers in Ghana, Kenya, Uganda, Bangladesh, and India. The fund will help provide glasses for thousands of low-income farmers who work in tea, coffee, and cocoa fields.

Formerly known as Scojo Foundation, VisionSpring aims to provide affordable eyewear and vision screening for NPOs and NGOs to fight vision-related issues among low-income groups. VisionSpring is running a campaign called "Livelihoods in Focus," targeting $70 million in donations. The foundation claims the campaign will help tea, coffee, and cocoa field workers generate over $1 billion by 2030 by assisting them to have a clearer vision.
Last month, MacKenzie Scott filed for a divorce from her second husband, Dan Jewett, whom she married last year. However, the couple decided to separate without any monetary split-ups. She divorced the Amazon tycoon in 2019 and acquired over $38 billion as a divorce settlement, out of which Scott has already donated $12 billion.
