The United Nations Human Rights Council has been petitioned by lawyers for a former wife of a member of Dubai's royal family. They asked the council to act with UAE authorities to safeguard the safety of Zeynab Javadli and her children. According to the request, Javadli was subjected to abuse, harassment, and intimidation by officials during a custody fight with Sheikh Saeed bin Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum.

His attorneys have claimed that Javadli is an unsuitable mother, which she has refuted. This is the latest example in Dubai of schisms within the royal family. Javadli requests assistance with a video. She also stated that she and her children are worried about their lives and safety.

She also stated that they are practically homeless and stuck in a hotel in Dubai with her children, unable to leave for fear of being arrested and having their children taken away from her.
