Jemima Khan, a scriptwriter, producer, and close friend of Princess Diana stated in an interview with The Times that she had resigned from a consulting position on the program because she didn't like how Diana's final years were depicted.

According to the statement from Netflix regarding the topic, Jemima Khan has never had a writing contract for the show, but she has been a member of an extensive network of diverse sources who have given their writers and research team important background material for the show.
