"Escape From Kabul Airport" is a documentary that will air in September on BBC Two. It is based on the inside story of August 2021's 18 days when the US withdrew troops from inside Afghanistan. It shows the evacuation that followed of the thousands of Afghan citizens from Kabul Airport once the Taliban took control.
Who's Who of The Documentary In association with HBO and Arte France, it is a BBC production from Amos. Dan Reed, a producer who has won both a BAFTA and an Emmy, created the documentary (Leaving Neverland). The movie's director is Jamie Roberts ("Four Hours At The Capitol").
The documentary will show interviews with Taliban fighters, U.S. Marines, eye-witnesses, and evacuees alongside never-before-seen archival footage from the ground.
Roberts said he was curious to know what had happened on the ground when the Kabul airlifts were taking place. It was all over the news, and he immediately wanted more information. He wanted to see it from the eyes of the people present on the scene.

What to Expect? The Amos Pictures team spent months in Afghanistan where they captured crucial first-person accounts and previously unreleased material. "Escape From Kabul Airport" is a documentary that tells the tale in dramatic, personal, and incredibly raw detail. The persons who were there and admitted the horrifying reality while sharing it with us provide the narration for the documentary.
Head of BBC Current Affairs, Joanna Carr, said that she's thrilled the 'Four Hours At The Capitol' team will bring a sophisticated and comprehensive approach to the documentary, giving the audience an unparalleled insight.
