The series finale of Endeavour’s ninth season ties up loose ends and brings a satisfying conclusion to the prequel season. The episode begins with the discovery of the bodies of Josiah Landesman and his former secretary, Brenda Lewis, on the grounds of the abandoned Blenheim Vale boys' school. Morse suspects Landesman is also responsible for the death of pupil Peter Williams, whose body has never been found. He promises his former colleague DS Peter Jakes that he will keep searching for Williams’ remains.
Meanwhile, the police investigate a case where the victims' obituaries appeared in the paper before their deaths. Morse solves the case, but this is only a sidebar to the main plot points that need wrapping up.
Thursday meets a former colleague who warns him to drop the Blenheim Vale investigation. Thursday realizes his family could be in danger and pulls some strings to get Jim Strange posted to Kidlington. Morse continues to dig up the school grounds, determined to find Peter Williams' body.
