Emporia state football player killed in a cliff diving accident
Brexten Green was a sophomore redshirt football player who died when diving from a cliff at Grand Lake on Saturday at about 6.30 pm.

Besides football, he was keen on playing baseball and acted as the all-state wide defensive back and receiver on Cashion's undefeated football team. In the history of the football programme, this was the first 11-man title, and as a result, in the whole District A-3, Brexten Green became the most valuable player. People used to love this 20-year-old boy a lot, and he was very famous not only within his team but all throughout Emporia State. His weight was about 190 pounds, whereas his height was 5 feet 10 inches.
The dam authorities of the Grand River got a call on Saturday, at about 6.30 pm, which said that a man had jumped from the precipice in the Dripping Springs region of the Grand Lake. The rescue team immediately went to that area only to find Brexten in nearly 31 feet of water.
The football coach of Emporia State University, Garin Higgins, said that this loss was devastating for both the Green family and the football fraternity of Emporia State. According to him, Brexten Green was an outstanding football player who used to care a lot for his teammates and the football program. Garin Higgins concluded that even if he were no more, the Hornet football family would never forget him.
As of now, no updates about the funeral have come out as all the arrangements will take place later. However, the counsellors of Emporia State will come forward to meet the Hornet football team through a Zoom meeting on the holiday weekend.
