TwitchCon 2025 in San Diego took a disturbing turn when popular streamer and cosplayer Emiru (Emily Schunk) was subjected to an inappropriate encounter during a fan meet-up. According to videos circulating online, a male attendee approached Emiru on stage and attempted to kiss her neck without her consent. Security personnel intervened immediately, pulling the individual away and escorting him out of the venue. The visibly shaken streamer was then assisted off the stage by staff members.

The incident has reignited debates over safety measures at large fan conventions, particularly those involving high-profile creators. Prominent streamers like Valkyrae and QTCinderella have previously voiced concerns about attending TwitchCon due to inadequate security and crowd management.

Online, users expressed outrage and concern for Emiru’s safety, with many calling for stricter protocols to protect influencers during public events. Some also drew chilling parallels to past tragedies, notably the 2016 shooting of singer Christina Grimmie, who was killed by a fan during a meet-and-greet session.

Was D4vd's bodyguard MarkyNextDoor really arrested?

Following the video of Emiru being'sexually' assaulted at TwitchCon, rumors have circulated on social media that the Twitch streamer is "MarkyNextDoor," who is also alleged to be rapper d4vd's bodyguard and is currently being arrested.

One X user named x_Newzs “*BREAKING* Known Re Current Sexual assaulter Also being investigated for being D4VD body guard "MARKYNEXTDOOR" Sexually Assaulted Twitch streamer "EMIRU" at Twitch con someone lock him up pls!”


Another X user, CheesurUpdate, who has more than 50,000 followers, commented, “D4vd's bodyguard MarkyNextDoor was just ARRESTED after assaulting popular Twitch streamer Emiru.”

However, as of now, no official confirmation or statement has been issued by the San Diego Police Department, and the reports of his arrest appear to be unverified speculation. The claims originated from posts on X and have not been substantiated by any credible source.

Twitch statement

A statement reportedly from Twitch circulating on social media reads, “We are aware of the incident involving streamer Emiru during TwitchCon and want to assure our community that we take creator safety extremely seriously.”


The statement further claims that the staff member responsible for allowing the breach was removed from their position, and a full review of security protocols is now underway.

However, the statement makes no mention of any arrest or confirmation regarding D4vd’s bodyguard, MarkyNextDoor, whose name has been widely circulated online in connection with the incident.

Who is MarkyNextDoor

MarkyNextDoor is known as a Twitch streamer and has been publicly identified as D4vd's bodyguard in the past. However, there have been rumors and controversies around this connection, especially linked to the Celeste Rivas case. MarkyNextDoor has denied involvement in the case and addressed fake Discord screenshots circulating online.
