Elon Musk reacts to Google Cloud Outage with meme, check his X post

Following a major Google Cloud outage which disrupted services like Spotify, Discord, and Google Meet across the United States on Thursday (June 12), tech billionaire Elon Musk reacted by sharing a meme claiming dominance for his platform X.

Moments after reports surfaced that both Google Cloud Platform (GCP) and Amazon Web Services (AWS) were facing massive disruptions, Musk reposted a meme which said, “LOOK AT ME. X IS THE INTERNET NOW.” He also added fire and flex emojis to the post.




Several platforms, including music streaming service Spotify and instant messaging platform Discord, were down for thousands of users following the outage. On its status page, Google Cloud said that multiple products were experiencing varying levels of service impact.

According to Downdetector, there were more than 10,000 incidents of people reporting problems with Google Cloud and more than 44,000 reports on Spotify around 2:46 p.m. ET in the US. Downdetector is an online platform that tracks outages by collating status reports from several sources. Downdetector's numbers are based on user-submitted reports. The actual number of affected users may vary.

Several users in the U.S. also reported more than 4,000 incidents each with Google Meet and the Google search engine, Reuters reported. While there were more than 8,000 reports on the messaging platform Discord.

According to Mashable, around 2:30 PM ET on Thursday, June 12, users began complaining about widespread service disruptions at popular websites and apps, including Twitch, Gmail, Discord, Nintendo Switch Online, Spotify, and dozens of other platforms.
