Elon Musk has reacted to the bizarre viral scandal now dubbed “Coldplaygate”, and he needed just one emoji to say it all.

The billionaire entrepreneur reposted a tweet featuring a dramatic and borderline comical “apology” from Astronomer CEO Andy Byron, who was caught on a stadium Kiss Cam with his Chief Human Resources Officer, Kristin Cabot, adding nothing but a laughing face emoji (��).

The now-infamous moment took place at a Coldplay concert in Boston’s Gillette Stadium, where frontman Chris Martin accidentally highlighted the pair, saying: “Oh look at these two, either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.”

“Let me start by apologizing to my family, my wife, and our wonderful employees. My behavior is inexcusable… I am a Coldplay fan. And not just of the first two albums. I also like the recent stuff.”

Whether real or satirical, the apology remains pinned on Astronomer’s verified X account (@astronomerio), though the company has yet to clarify its authenticity. Musk’s reaction, meanwhile, has cemented the moment into internet lore.

Family, fallout, and online firestorm

Byron, who is married to Megan Kerrigan Byron and has two children, has since disappeared from public view. Megan reportedly removed his last name from her social media before making her accounts private. Cabot, recently divorced, has also gone offline.

Both executives have been removed from Astronomer’s leadership page, and the firm has made no official comment since the video exploded.
