Neuralink has recently showcased a legitimate significant advancement in the brain computer interface technology with its ‘Convoy’ study which actually aims to enable the individuals with disabilities to control robotic arms using thought alone, reported The US Sun.

According to The US Sun, in a recently released video, a robotic arm was seen writing the word ‘convoy’ while demonstrating the capabilities of the N1 brain chip implanted in a human patient. Tesla CEO Elon Musk has now ended up confirming the authenticity of the demonstration while putting an emphasis on the fact that the patient is controlling the arm purely through their thoughts that too without any external devices.

The Convoy study which was announced in the month of November eventually focuses on helping people with severe mobility impairments specifically quadriplegics and then regain some control over their environment. Three patients have reportedly received the N1 chip so far and the recently previous successes include controlling a computer cursor and playing video games using only their minds, asserted The US Sun.

While the technology holds a huge promise, numerous experts have raised severe concerns about its vulnerabilities and potential risks as well. The N1 chip actually interprets brain signals and translates them into commands for devices like robotic arms or game controllers, noted the US Sun.

This innovative approach could reportedly revolutionize assistive technology while providing far greater independence for those with physical limitations. The ongoing research also highlights the intersection of neuroscience and technology while aiming to improve the quality of life for individuals with disabilities.
