Pocan is introducing this in response to the Tesla and SpaceX CEO's overhaul of the federal government, Politico reported.
He has named the legislation as the Eliminate Looting of Our Nation by Mitigating Unethical State Kleptocracy (ELON MUSK) Act.
What is 'ELON MUSK' Act?
The legislation seeks to direct government agencies in the US to terminate contracts that are held by 'special' government employees, according to a press release shared by Pocan on X (owned by Musk). It added that the legislation is quite similar to the bans for the Members of Congress and other federal employees. Also Read : After Google, Chinese regulators consider investigation into Apple’s app store policies
It states that a "special government employee" might steer federal spendings towards their personal interests if they have the authority to recommend spending decisions by agencies.
Through the proposed legislation, Pocan notes that such people should not get the opportunity for personal gains, especially when it comes to directing federal taxpayer funds.
