The Elder Scrolls 6 continues to build up anticipation as fans face yet another disappointing prediction about its release date. The game was first announced in 2018 and is still in its early stages of development. Bethesda has been busy with projects like Starfield, and many fans were hoping for more updates on the highly anticipated sequel to Skyrim. However, recent insights from a former Bethesda developer suggest a much longer wait than expected.

Former Bethesda developer Nate Purkeypile, interviewed on YouTube channel KIWI TALKZ, shared his thoughts on the development timeline for The Elder Scrolls VI. According to Purkeypile, the game has likely only recently entered full production. When asked about a potential 2029 release date, he remarked, "If any game is going to get delayed […] I wouldn't be surprised if it's pretty late."

Purkeypile, who worked on major Bethesda titles like Skyrim and Fallout 4 before leaving in 2021, added that delays are common with such massive projects. His comments have left fans concerned that the nearly two-decade gap between Skyrim and its sequel might continue to grow.

Despite the uncertainty, Bethesda's executive producer Todd Howard has remained tight-lipped about the game. Fans hoped for a teaser or update during Howard's recent appearance at The Game Awards 2024, but their hopes were dashed when no new information about The Elder Scrolls VI was revealed.

Another factor contributing to the delay could be Bethesda’s focus on other franchises. Recent rumors suggest that the success of the Fallout series, including the upcoming Amazon TV adaptation, might push the development of Fallout 5 ahead of The Elder Scrolls VI.
