Eight-year-old Emmitt Bailey wins 2022 USA Kids Mullet Championship
Due to his classic barnet, Emmitt Bailey, an eight-year-old from Wisconsin, was named the winner of the Kids Mullet Championships and received a hefty £2,200 prize.

The first-place winner of the Kids Mullet Championships was an eight-year-old. Wisconsin's Menomonie resident Emmitt Bailey entered the American competition earlier this year. He made a good impression with his 1980s barnet, which he claimed was influenced by some ice hockey role models.
Emmitt won with more than 9,896 votes, taking first place. It's beautiful that so many people compliment your hair, he told BuzzFeed.
It's common to hear people say, "It's not just a haircut, it's a lifestyle," and I believe that to be true. Most people who sport mullets can withstand criticism from others, but I think that the tide has begun to turn.
"I believe the 90s country atmosphere is strongly resurfacing right now."
Emmitt's mother, Erin, initially had reservations about the "business in the front, party in the back" approach, but she has since adored it.
"I wasn't on board immediately, but it's simply become part of his personality now," she told BuzzFeed. He enjoys being independent and having his hair.
Emmitt won the competition and received a pair of Pit Viper sunglasses. The competition's organizers also gave him $2,500 (about £2,200), which he plans to spend on a go-kart. The elementary school student triumphed against Texas teenager Epic Orta, who came in second place with 8,404 likes. Ohio's William Dale Ramsey received an astonishing 4,058 votes to finish behind the duo.
