‘Eight Is Enough’ star Adam Rich passes away at 54 in LA

As per reports, the youngest child star on ‘Eight Is Enough’ Adam Rich was found dead at his home in Los Angeles at the age of 54. Nothing felonious or questionable was found at the site till now. He has acted in all five seasons of “Eight Is Enough,” produced by Lorimar Television.

Dick Van Patten played the lead in the popular series as a widowed father of eight children having a relationship with Betty Buckley who played the school teacher. Adam Rich played a crucial role in being the baby of the family.

Rich had grown up in front of a camera. In the late 1970s, he became the teenage icon by playing Nicholas with a unique haircut.


Although Rich plodded later in life, in a video interview that he posted on Instagram in 2021, he said it was joyful to work in ‘Eight Is Enough’ TV series.

He was nominated three times at the Young Artists Awards and won two times. In 1980, Adam Rich was appreciated as the best stylish juvenile actor in a TV series. In 1981 he won the best young actors award.

Later he starred in the five-episode anthology series “CBS Children’s Mystery Theatre” and won the Young Artist Award.

He also appeared in shows like “Fantasy Island”, “CHiPs”, “St. Elsewhere”, “Small Wonder”, “Baywatch” and “Silver Spoons”. Adam Rich’s final project in 2003 was “Reel Comedy,”.


Adam Rich was born on October 12, 1968 and he grew up in the neighborhood of Granada Hills in L.A. and debuted with a guest role on the 1976 series “The Six Million Dollar Man.”

Rich struggled with drugs throughout his career and ended with a near-death experience in 1989 from a Valium overdose. Later he was arrested for breaking into a pharmacy. He was arrested again in 2002 for driving under the influence after spending years in a rehabilitation center.

Many including Corey Feldman, Todd Bridges, and Chad Lowe poured tributes for Adam Rich. Lowe tweeted “There was no bigger child star in his day,”.
