The latest speculations around the scrapping of his two shows, slated for September 25 and 26, 2026, as part of his ‘LOOP tour,’ come amid the ongoing controversy following the firing of Macklemore over “free Palestine" remarks.

Macklemore made these remarks while performing as the opening act for Ed Sheeran's "Loop Tour" during two concerts at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey, on September 4 and 5, 2026. Following his comments, he found himself in the crosshairs with Robert Kraft, the owner of the Gillette stadium, as Kraft reportedly pushed Ed to remove Macklemore from the tour as he seemed to have ignored warnings to refrain from such remarks on the second night.

The British pop star, who was set to perform Friday and Saturday nights at Gillette Stadium, is likely to scrap the two shows as stage construction's been paused because of a massive nor'easter storm bearing down on New England, sources told TMZ. The news outlet further reported that the stage was partially assembled on Thursday morning (September 24, 2026), and by the evening on the same day, the crew was asked to pause construction.

The storm is likely to bring strong wind and rain on Friday night which seem to create troubling conditions for fans and a dangerous scenario for the stage itself in the open-air stadium. Another stadium source told TMZ that everything is set for Ed’s concerts except for lighting ... which the crew was testing on Thursday night, ensuring that preparations are in place just in case the show happens.

Amid all speculations, the final call related to the two shows has not been made yet, and there was no update shared from the stadium or from the singer regarding rescheduling at the time of filing of this report.
