Eastern Kentucky Flooding: 8 dead, several missing. Governor declares emergency
The flood caused massive flooding across eastern Kentucky in the wake of heavy rains, leaving people stranded on rooftops without power or water.

According to the Police, 20 people were missing early Thursday in Perry County. Flooding in the area had destroyed several bridges, roads, and other structures. Among the victims, there was a 81-year-old woman. Identities of the seven other victims were yet to be ascertained, police said.
The flooding has been called one of "the worst" and most devastating events in the state's history. During the weekend, the impact of the storms could worsen, possibly hindering rescue efforts and restoring power and water, the governor said.
Beshear stated that the flooding continues to put everyone's life in danger. The death toll is growing, and many families have lost almost everything. A state of emergency has been declared for all of Kentucky, and National Guard has also been deployed.
However, Beshear has claimed that they have probably not seen the worst of it. Kentucky National Guard had mentioned that crews were working hard to rescue people who had been stranded on the roofs of homes. The staff of a certain school has also been abandoned.
According to the National Weather Service, more rains were expected Friday, with flooding and heavy downpour are likely to continue until the weekend is over.
