Monday is the first day of early voting in Texas for the May 7 local elections. If you are one of the voters, you should know a few things about the early voting process. On the Texas constitution's ballot, two modifications have been introduced. Both the modifications are in context with property taxes. In the first amendment, the state legislature can lower the property tax exemption for senior citizens and disabled people. In the second amendment, the modification is regarding the rise in the homestead exception from $25,000 to $40,000 for school district property taxes.

Voting locations

Here is some information regarding the elections. The Dallas Independent School District has elections for three positions on its school board. The Fort Worth ISD is also hosting a board election. Both Fort Worth and Arlington are having municipal polls. The city of Fort Worth is also having an election on a bond package and thirteen proposed charter modifications.

The election is being held with fewer vote centers across Dallas County than the party primary on March 1. The county and both main political parties had difficulty locating election officials in March.

Modifications in Texas voting by mail

Texas is holding its second election since new voting regulations were enacted. Many ballots were rejected during the March 1 primary because new fields designed to assure voting integrity were either left blank or filled out incorrectly, resulting in rejected ballots. You must submit your application before April 26, Tuesday, if you will cast your vote via mail-in ballot.
