Dwyane Wade’s ex-wife alleges he pressurised trans daughter to change gender for money

Siohvaughn Funches-Wade said that Dwyane Wade wants to benefit from the underage child’s name and gender transition with many firms through relationships and marketing chances, not restricted to partnerships with Disney.

She said concerned that her ex-husband is forcing their child to the name and gender change to capitalize on the cash offers he has gotten from corporations. Funches-Wade alleges that in April when she met Wade in Atlanta, the former NBA player told her he had earned a lot of money in connection with Zaya’s “name and gender issue.”

Wade told her he meant to make their child famous because of the gender and name issue and that there would be endorsements/contracts. In the petition, Funches-Wade claims of being told that several corporations, including Disney, are interested in this deal.




Wade’s ex-wife said in her objection that as the media widely covered Zaya’s transition, the kids had a lot of pressure. Further, she requested Zaya to make any decision when she reaches the appropriate age.

When the initial petition was filed in August, Wade said of having absolute power to change Zaya’s legal name without her mother’s approval. Siohvaughn Funches-Wade received the notice of the plea as a gesture of courtesy.

Zaya’s social media bio shows her pronoun as she/her.
