Dwayne Johnson's 'Black Adam' hit or flop? All you need to know

The superhero movie starring "The Rock" Dwayne Johnson has earned about $387 million worldwide after almost seven weeks in theatres. It cost $195 million to make. According to Variety, the film's advertising costs came to $80 million, less than the $100 million budgeted for the COVID-19 pandemic campaign. The amount that movie theatres keep from ticket sales, which could be close to 50 per cent, is not included in these calculations. As a whole, Black Adam might not even be able to make money.

"Black Adam" didn't get any good reviews, either. With a Metacritic score of 41 and a Rotten Tomatoes audience score of 39 per cent, the movie is the third-worst reviewed DC Universe film to date, after Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and 2016’s Suicide Squad.
