Dwayne Johnson turned down offer to appear in ‘The Flash’: Report

Hollywood actor Dwayne Johnson’s Seven Bucks Production has “politely declined” to link the actor with Ezra Miller’s multiverse movie – The Flash. The decision is said to have been made by Hiram Garcia, Seven Bucks’ CEO, who does not want Johnson to participate in cameo appearances.

Johnson, who is also known for his recent role of Black Adam, has not made any other appearance in the DC Universe apart from his solo movie.

Black Adam, which hit theaters in October 2022, struggled in its theatrical run. It was able to earn an underwhelming $390M against a production budget of $195M combined with a marketing budget of $80M.


Earlier, Johnson had also refused to reprise his role ‘Shazam! Fury of the Gods’ which is set to release next year as well. His decision has received a lot of backlashes considering that Black Adam is Shazam’s main rival.

While the real reason behind his refusal has not been clarified till date, reports have indicated that Johnson’s relationship with Warner Bros Discovery has not been positive in the recent months.



It is speculated that Johnson may want to limit his involvement in the DC Extended Universe and is looking to keep it as an independent project. Although, after the underwhelming response of his first film, many fans believe that Black Adam is done as far as appearances in the main DCU are concerned.

On the other hand, ‘The Flash’ has seen many failed cameos. A cameo featuring Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman and Henry Cavill’s Superman have also been dropped from the film. The turbulence can be attributed to the transition that DCU is making as its current era is ending next year.

The Rock, one of the biggest movie stars in the industry, is developing a tendency to turn down non-Black Adam films which could be concerning for the DC Extended Universe. His place in the future of the DCU is a big question that would be answered in due time.
