Catharina-Amalia, Princess of Orange and the heir to the throne of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, was moved to the palace from the student housing, which spoiled her plans to attend college like a regular student. Addressing the press during her recent visit to Sweden, Queen Maxima said that the princess' staying at the student housing could have enormous consequences for her life, according to reports.

The queen further said that Catharina-Amalia could not live in Amsterdam and would have to confine herself to The Hague. The princess wanted to live a normal life and even gave up her yearly allowance of $1.9 million after she turned 18. She had written to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, that she found it uncomfortable to have the large purse when other students found it hard.

This gave rise to fears of kidnapping or an attack on the princess. As per the new arrangement, Catharina-Amalia will be attending the classes at the university but won’t be staying.
