She had written to the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, Mark Rutte, that she found it uncomfortable to have the large purse when other students found it hard.
The princess's joining the University of Amsterdam was widely covered in the media. However, subsequent reports indicated that her security was threatened after her name emerged in conversations between criminal gangs. This gave rise to fears of kidnapping or an attack on the princess. As per the new arrangement, Catharina-Amalia will be attending the classes at the university but won’t be staying.
