The note, captured by a photographer, highlighted the affordability of cars manufactured by Elon Musk’s company. It stated that Tesla vehicles could be purchased for as low as $299/month or $35,000.
As per a Business Insider report, the handwritten note was attached to a copy of Trump’s speech for the event. He showcased support for the billionaire amid growing protests against Musk and his electric vehicle company.
Trump’s Endorsement for Tesla and Elon Musk
The BI report stated that before the event, Trump, in a social media post, said that he intended to buy a brand-new Tesla as a show of support to Musk. On Tuesday afternoon, he was admiring a red Model S parked in the White House lawn.Calling it beautiful, Trump said that he would write a check for the vehicle. This car retails at approximately $80,000. The president also announced plans to gift a Cybertruck, another model of Tesla which starts at nearly $80,000, to his 17-year-old granddaughter Kai.
According to the report, despite his endorsement, Trump admitted that he would not be able to drive the car himself. He said he had not driven a car in a long time and explained that the House staff would be using it instead.

Donald Trump’s remarks came as Musk and Tesla face increasing challenges. There have been protests against Musk’s company across the United States and Europe. The demonstrators have been criticising Musk over his politics, and some have even vandalised cars by the EV manufacturer and Tesla showrooms.The BI report stated that Tesla’s stock has equally suffered in recent months as it has dropped by nearly 55 per cent from its record highs in mid-December. On Tuesday, the report added, shares of Tesla closed at $230.58.
The report quoted critics arguing that Musk’s focus on politics and his ties to White House’s new department—DOGE (Department of Government Efficiency)—is distracting him from Tesla’s business.

Trump's support for Tesla is a turnabout on electric cars.
