Emmet Sullivan, U.S. Federal Judge, dismissed Donald Trump, the previous US President’s claim of absolute immunity. He issued the decision Monday in response to a lawsuit registered by NAACP, three Michigan voters, and the Michigan Welfare Rights Organization last year on 6 January, who blamed the RNC and Donald Trump of breaching civil voting rights and civil rights law by planning to deprive voters and retain him in power regardless of his electoral defeat.
Donald Trump objected to the petition. Donald Trump claimed total exemption from liability for activities committed outside his official duties as president. Emmet Sullivan granted the civil rights groups’ request to file an updated lawsuit, delivering a 23-page judgment concluding that Trump’s behaviour was entirely political and outside the range of the president’s official responsibilities.

"Look at China, how filthy it is. Look at Russia. Look at India. It's filthy. The air is filthy. I walked out of the Paris Accord as we had to take out trillions of dollars and we were treated very unfairly.”

Sullivan said if Donald Trump interfered with the authentication of the electoral vote total, as petitioners allege, such activities would not account for the administrative measures in the Constitution’s defense. Due to these considerations, the court declared Donald Trump’s non-immunity from monetary compensation in this complaint.
The court determined that petitioners have correctly demonstrated, for the move to revise, that in the past, the Trump supporters created enormous injury to petitioners and accounted for a considerable risk to petitioners’ fundamental right to vote in the future.
FAQs:
What did the petitioners urge? They urged the court to grant their claim under the Voting Rights Act to include new, factual claims about the RNC and Trump’s actions.
What did Trump’s attorneys tell the court? They said his actions in the 2020 election were intended to benefit the Constitution.
