Donald Trump hints at possible pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell amid ongoing Epstein investigation and growing public attention.
Donald Trump admitted he can pardon Ghislaine Maxwell, Jeffrey Epstein’s close associate, but said he hasn’t thought about doing it yet. When asked directly, Trump said: "I'm allowed to do it, but it's something I haven’t thought about." Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence for helping Epstein abuse underage girls.

She was convicted in 2021 on five criminal counts related to sex trafficking and conspiracy. There’s a growing group of Trump supporters who want him to pardon Maxwell, especially after the Justice Department refused to overturn her conviction, according to the report by Daily Mail.

White House denies plans to pardon Maxwell

Despite online buzz, the White House quickly denied Trump is seriously planning a pardon. A top official told Daily Mail, “There have been no discussions or consideration of a pardon for Ghislaine Maxwell, and there never will be.”

Meanwhile, Maxwell has been meeting with Justice Department officials for two straight days, answering questions behind closed doors. Her attorney said she answered every single question truthfully and didn’t refuse anything during a full-day interview with Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche, as per the report by Daily Mail.

She’s also expected to testify before Congress from prison on August 11. Trump seemed annoyed by more questions about Epstein and Maxwell, saying people should “focus on how well the country is doing.”

Trump tries to distance himself from Epstein

Trump said he never visited Epstein’s island and again tried to distance himself from the late financier. But the past keeps resurfacing: The Wall Street Journal reported that Trump contributed a lewd birthday card to Epstein.

Trump denied writing the birthday card or drawing on it, and even sued the Journal, saying the story was “false, malicious, and defamatory”, according to the report by Daily Mail.

The Journal claimed the card, with Trump’s signature and a drawing of a naked woman, was part of a 2003 album Maxwell kept. Trump called out others who were close to Epstein, like Bill Clinton and Harvard’s Larry Summers, saying “They don’t talk about them. They talk about me.”

While Trump admitted he knew Epstein, he said they had a falling out in 2004 and that he banned him from Mar-a-Lago. Despite trying to move on, Epstein’s shadow still hangs over Trump’s presidency, especially with his MAGA base demanding answers, as per the Daily Mail report.

Trump recently called on a federal judge to release grand jury testimony in the Epstein case, hoping it might calm public anger over the lack of new revelations.

But Attorney General Pam Bondi crushed those hopes, saying there’s no evidence Epstein blackmailed anyone, no client list exists, and he died by suicide in prison in 2019. The memo also stated that no new people will be arrested or charged in the Epstein sex trafficking case, according to the report by Daily Mail.
