When will President Trump meet María Corina Machado?
Speaking on Fox News, Trump said he expects Machado to visit next week and that he looks forward to meeting her. “I understand she’s coming in next week sometime, and I look forward to saying hello to her,” he told host Sean Hannity when asked directly about a potential meeting.
The expected sit-down comes as Venezuela faces a dramatic political shift following the U.S. arrest and extraction of Nicolás Maduro. Delcy Rodríguez is now serving as interim president, while divisions remain over who should lead the country long term.

Does Trump support Machado leading Venezuela?
Despite praising Machado publicly, Trump has expressed reservations about her ability to lead Venezuela. He told The Post earlier that he was unsure she had enough internal support to govern after Maduro’s removal, as per a report by the New York Post.
Last week, Trump reiterated those doubts, telling reporters it would “be very tough for [Machado] to be the leader, because she doesn’t have the support within or the respect within the country.”
Machado has said she and Edmundo González, whom the U.S. recognizes as the winner of Venezuela’s last presidential election, are ready to lead a transitional government. Several Republicans in Congress have also pushed for Machado to take on a leadership role.

How are U.S. officials responding to the situation?
Secretary of State Marco Rubio described Machado as “fantastic” but stressed that circumstances on the ground demand immediate action. “Unfortunately, the vast majority of the opposition is no longer present inside of Venezuela. We have short-term things that have to be addressed right away,” Rubio said.
Trump has denied reports suggesting he blocked Machado from leadership because she won the Nobel Prize. In a recent NBC News interview, he pushed back on claims from The Washington Post.
“She should not have won it,” Trump said. “But no, that has nothing to do with my decision," as per a report by NBC News.
