Former US President Donald Trump during a recent conversation claimed that he is ‘the father of IVF’ while asserting that he got to know about the procedure pretty recently.

Donald Trump, former US President during a recent Fox News town hall claimed himself to be the ‘father of IVF’, reported NBC News. Donald Trump also admitted the fact that it has been very few days since he learned about in vitro fertilization while recounting his conversation with Katie Britt, the Alabama Senator.

According to NBC News, it was Katie Britt who informed Donald Trump about a ruling by the Alabama Supreme Court that could eventually affect IVF clinics while Donald Trump expressed his surprise at the connection between the court’s decision and IVF stating that he had no prior knowledge of the procedure’s implications.

Following this conversation with Senator Katie Britt Donald Trump prompted to quickly support IVF while claiming that he understood the importance of IVF within two minutes of their discussion.

However, former US President Donald Trump’s remarks during the conversation contained inaccuracies as the court did not declare IVF clinics to be illegal but ruled that the frozen embryos should be legally considered as children. Following this court ruling, some clinics eventually led to halt treatments due to legal concerns.

NBC News reported that Donald Trump’s comments drew criticism, particularly from US Vice President Kamala Harris who asserted Donald Trump’s self-proclamation as bizarre while emphasizing the fact that numerous couples relying on IVF are now facing uncertainty due to restrictive reproductive rights laws.
