Donald Trump or Kamala Harris: These voters will decide who will win the U.S. presidential elections
A tiny percentage of voters from swing states known as the Torn Twenty could swing the election in favour of Kamala Harris or Donald Trump in 2024. These voters are unsure about the two candidates.

In the August USA TODAY/Suffolk University nationwide survey of prospective voters, they questioned third-party and indecisive voters about the reasons behind their decision not to support Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump.
With two months until election day, it was discovered that a portion of the electorate (75 respondents, or approximately 8% of the total) is still either undecided or choosing third-party candidates as both their first and second choice. That is almost twice as much as the current gap between Trump and Harris.

USA Today's Washington Bureau Chief Susan Page summed up the data that as likely voters are holding back from Harris largely because they don't know enough about her, and those same voters are holding back from Trump because they know too much about him. Of these 75 respondents, 55 live in solidly red or blue states, so their vote will not affect the election. That leaves them with 20 respondents in swing states, known as the Torn Twenty. In these states, every vote counts, and every person who participates in a poll represents hundreds or even thousands of other potential voters who may hold similar opinions.
The 2024 election outcome could be determined by swing state voters' sentiments, not choosing Harris or Trump. Pollsters must be cautious not to generalize conclusions, and the campaign that finds a winning recipe will win.
