Donald Trump gets ultimate warning from battleground state governor ahead of January 20 inauguration
Donald Trump is set to take charge as the US President during January 20 inauguration day event.

Michigan, a key battleground state with 15 electoral votes, was won by Donald Trump in the recently concluded US elections. However, in 2020, Joe Biden won the state.
US President-elect Donald Trump has promised to impose a 25 per cent tariff on imports from Canada, which economists say would trigger a deep recession. Canada sends 75 per cent of all exported goods and services to the United States.
Democratic governor Whitmer said in a speech in Detroit imposing tariffs would damage supply chains and slow production lines and would cut "jobs on both sides of the border, Reuters reported.
"Think about this: 70 per cent of all the auto parts we make in Michigan go directly to our neighbors.... The only winner in this equation is China. They would love nothing more than to watch us cripple America’s auto ecosystem all by ourselves. This is a matter of national security," Whitmer said.
Whitmer wants a fresh start with President-elect Donald Trump but also warns that she won't back down over tariffs that she believes would hurt the auto industry in her state.
The second-term governor faces a more challenging political landscape than other rising Democrats who could run for president in 2028. She must navigate a divided state legislature while solidifying her legacy in a state that went for Trump in two of the last three elections, as per AP report.
