Donald Trump: Democrats need to pass ‘school security’ bills

Donald Trump, former president of the United States has urged US lawmakers to lay emphasis on funds for School Security first, instead of military aid for Ukraine.

The world was in shock after the Uvalde tragedy, where a mass shooting by a gunman left 24 dead in an elementary school and a similar incident in Buffalo, New York, where 14 students lost their life. These two events have intensified the debate on gun control and scrutiny of gun rights organizations.

The former US president, Donald Trump, said this is the time to tighten the security of schools around the nation. He has called on lawmakers to make sure incidents like these don’t happen again.

Trump emphasized single entry points in schools with doors that can be locked from inside and hired security guards. In addition, there should be robust fencing and metal detectors to prevent anyone unauthorized from entering the schools. He also gave the idea that classroom doors should be hardened and lockable from the inside.

In the view of these horrific incidences, he also advocated that the idea of gun-free school zones should be removed and teachers should be armed to protect children. There should also be one police officer and an armed resource officer posted at each school.

He emphasized the need for overhauling top-to-bottom security at schools across the United Nations. He said the schools in the US should be the most challenging target and not the easiest ones.

However, it has been brought to light that the Robb Elementary School of Uvalde tragedy had all these facilities. The entry gate had inside locks, but it was propped opened by a teacher that allowed the shooter to enter. The classroom doors were locked from the inside, but he obtained the keys from the janitor. Also, the security officer was not on the campus.

This raises the question of how can we ever be secure enough to protect ourselves, let alone school full of terrified, helpless kids or any other institution full of people.
