Donald Trump declares candidacy for 2024 United States presidential run

On November 15, Donald Trump announced his intention to run for the US president race again in the 2024 elections, hoping to stave off any potential Republican rivals.

Donald Trump, who never failed to attack Democrats or accuse them of harming the legitimacy of US voting since his election setback in 2020, has declared his competitive spirit for president in 2024, trying to discourage any prospective GOP opponents.

A week after the not-so-great midterm elections for the Republicans where the party did not succeed in winning as many seats in Congress as they had wanted, Trump made his declaration at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida, seeking a possible rematch with Democratic President Joe Biden. Trump addressed hundreds of supporters in a ballroom adorned with American flags and chandeliers in a speech that lasted a little over an hour.

Trump told the gathering of supporters, family members, and former workers who were waving their phones in the air, “I'm launching my campaign for president of the United States tonight to make America great again".

Despite criticizing the U.S. electoral process, Trump did not use his address to revive his allegations of widespread voting fraud in 2020, nor did he bring up his followers' violent effort to stop Congress from confirming Biden's win on January 6, 2021.

On a visit to Indonesia to attend the G20 summit, when asked whether he (President Joe Biden) had an opinion on Trump's decision, he said, "Not particularly". He shared a video on Twitter condemning Trump's performance while in office.

Donald Trump, 76, wants to follow Grover Cleveland, whose second term as US president ended in 1897, as the only other president to have served non-consecutive terms in American history. The 79-year-old Biden said last week that he intended to run for re-election and would probably make a decision by the beginning of next year.
