Doha’s first Panda House welcomes two giant Chinese Pandas ahead of Qatar World Cup 2022

Two giant pandas, Si Hai and Jing Jing, recently moved into Doha’s first ever panda house ahead of its opening for public visits. It is located near the AI Bayt Stadium in AI Khor Park.

With the FIFA World Cup 2022 right around the corner, Qatar opened its first-ever Panda house in Doha on Thursday. The Panda House in AI Khor Park welcomed two giant Chinese pandas. One is a three-year-old female, Si Hai, and the other is a four-year-old, Jing Jing.

Qatar’s Chinese Ambassador Zhou Jian was part of the welcoming function. In his statement, he said that the arrival of Chinese pandas has uplifted the relations between China and Qatar.”

He further said, “The arrival of these pandas is a blessing from the 1.4 billion Chinese people to Qatar, and is also a sign for full support to conduct the upcoming World Cup. The Chinese pandas will most likely amplify the bond between Qatar and China and increase its overall cooperation among various fields.”

Where were the pandas living before?
Both pandas were born in the Wolong panda camp, which comes under the Chinese conservation centre in China’s southwest Sichuan Province.

Zhou also said, “Since the arrival of both the pandas, they were kept in proper care, even the caretakers are trying to learn the native dialect to communicate with the pandas.”
