Just during Donald Trump's first week in office, a second high-profile staffer left his Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE), as per Business Insider.

Who all have left?

William McGinley, a Republican lawyer, said he was leaving the agency and looking for opportunities in the private sector, reported Business Insider.

McGinley was appointed to be DOGE's legal counsel in December.

In the first Trump administration, McGinley served as White House cabinet secretary. He previously served as counsel to the Republican National Committee and the National Republican Senatorial Committee.

Reason for departing

McGinley’s departure follows after the agency lost one of its co-leaders, Vivek Ramaswamy earlier this week. Ramaswamy stepped down just over two months after the department was announced. He was set to lead DOGE alongside Musk. Ramaswamy is expected to announce a run for governor of Ohio, as per reports.

Both departures come at a time when DOGE faces a lawsuit that started pouring in moments after Trump came to power.

According to Business Insider, three lawsuits alleged DOGE violates transparency requirements of a 1972 law.

McGinley and Ramaswamy reiterated their support for Trump in their departure announcement.
