It was about time The Blacklist ended. The crime thriller on NBC has had 10 seasons and 218 episodes in total, and the last two seasons were rather dull as compared to the earlier. In a two-part series finale, The Blacklist ended on July 13, 2023, and with it, actor James Spader's lead character of master criminal Raymond Reddington aka Red.

What happens in The Blacklist Series Finale?

The series finale shows Reddington taking the life of the congressman (Toby Leonard Moore). If Red had been caught by him, he would not be able to try and save the life of his best friend and associate, Dembe Zuma (Hisham Tawfiq).

Dembe Zuma in turn is seen discussing how Reddington was "at peace with death".

"More than anyone I've ever known, he's always been at peace with death," says Dembe Zuma. "He (Red) says, 'Death is inevitable. It will come for us all. And that inevitability robs death entirely of its significance. What matters are the things that are not inevitable. The things we create, the things we find, the left we take when everything in our life is leading us right. How we live.' I've always loved him for that. For his remarkable refusal to go quietly into that good night."

So, does Reddington die in The Blacklist series finale?

Dembe predicts the death of Reddington, who dies at the hands, or rather horns, of a bull in Spain. This was hinted at in an earlier season of The Blacklist.
