Does Hurricane Ian pose immense threat to Florida? Read to know

Hurricane Ian has become Category 3 and has hammered western Cuba. Ian is on its way to the Gulf of Mexico, and Florida might be at risk. The hurricane intensified massively at 2:30 a.m. EDT and reached western Cuba a couple of hours later.

Agencies
Ian will reach the southeast Gulf of Mexico on Tuesday, and the final preparations for it in Florida must be completed on Tuesday because the conditions can worsen in the next 12 to 24 hours.

Currently, Ian is moving north and is centered over western Cuba. Sustained winds have maxed at 125 mph. A warning is in place for Florida on the West Coast. Anclote River to Bonita Beach and Tampa Bay are at risk.

There is also a warning for a storm surge from Flamingo to Anclote River. It means there are possibilities of threat to life due to rising water from the coastline to inland.
