As layoffs continue across the entertainment sector, about 100 Disneyland Resort cast members from various departments have been let go, multiple media outlets have confirmed. The cuts, which include “a limited number of salaried positions,” took place on Tuesday, October 28, in Anaheim.

Earlier this month, “Happiest Place on Earth” announced price hikes on most of its single-day, one-park tickets. Prices for its top two Magic Key annual passes have also increased.

Why Disneyland cut jobs

“With our business in a period of steady, sustained operation, we are recalibrating our organization to ensure we continue to deliver exceptional experiences for our guests, while positioning Disneyland Resort for the future,” the Los Angeles Times reports, quoting a Disneyland spokesperson. “As part of this, we’ve made the difficult decision to eliminate a limited number of salaried positions,” the statement reads further.

The company attributed the decision to an increase in hiring after the parks reopened once the COVID-19 pandemic waned.
