Disney reschedules next two 'Avengers' movies, sets dates for 'The Dog Stars' and 'The Devil Wears Prada 2'; Check full star cast and release dates in US, Australia, Canada

In a major shake-up, Marvel Studios has delayed the release of its next two Avengers films, both directed by the Russo Brothers. Avengers: Doomsday will now hit the screen on December 18, 2026, instead of May 1, while Avengers: Secret Wars shifts from May 7 to December 17, 2027.

According to insiders, as quoted by Deadline, the postponement gives filmmakers additional time to perfect what are expected to be two of the most ambitious movies ever produced.

Disney and Marvel opted for December release dates, capitalizing on their past success during the holiday season with blockbusters like Spider-Man: No Way Home. Production on Avengers: Doomsday is currently under production.



Apart from these movies, an IMAX and 3D re-release of James Cameron’s Avatar: The Way of Water is scheduled for October 3, 2025, serving as a lead-up to the highly anticipated third installment, Avatar: Fire and Ash, which arrives on December 19, 2025. The upcoming sequel is expected to be one of the most significant cinematic releases in the near future.

STAR CAST OF 'THE DOG STARS' AND 'THE DEVIL WEARS PRADA 2

Ridley Scott’s upcoming film The Dog Stars, based on Peter Heller’s novel, boasts a star-studded cast featuring Jacob Elordi, Margaret Qualley, Josh Brolin, Guy Pearce, and Benedict Wong.

Meanwhile, Universal Pictures has unveiled the first teaser for The Devil Wears Prada 2, reuniting Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway as Miranda Priestly and Andy Sachs. The film was based on Lauren Weisberger’s 2003 novel about a young woman’s nightmarish experience working at a fashion magazine.

Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci also return, with Kenneth Branagh joining as Priestly’s husband. Simone Ashley also reportedly plays a key role, while Lucy Liu, Justin Theroux, BJ Novak, and Pauline Chalamet round out the impressive cast for the highly anticipated fashion-world sequel.
