Disney, Pixar, Netflix, Warner Bros and more to join Annecy 2023: All you need to know

Several industry giants like Disney, Pixar, Netflix, Warner Bros, DreamWorks, Paramount, etc will join the Annecy International Animation Film Festival to showcase their work.

The Annecy International Animation Film Festival is set to make history this year with its largest international presence and increased participation from renowned studios. It will take place from June 11 to 17, the festival has already surpassed last year's attendance with over 13,300 guests by late May.

Notably, a U.S. delegation of more than 700 people, including industry giants like Disney, DreamWorks, Pixar, Netflix, Paramount and Warner Bros. will be in attendance, making it the most significant U.S. presence ever at Annecy.

Disney, celebrating its 100th anniversary this year, plans to commemorate the occasion by screening "Fantasia 2000" and offering a sneak peek of "Wish." Warner Bros. will provide behind-the-scenes insights into "The Lord of the Rings: The War of the Rohirrim" and "Batman Azteca," while DreamWorks presents a preview of "Trolls Band Together" and Netflix premieres the "Nimona," acquired from Blue Sky Studios.


Paramount executives will be present to showcase a work-in-progress screening of "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem," and they will also establish their first-ever stand at Annecy's Animation Film Market (MIFA).

The festival has witnessed overall growth, with Canada and Spain significantly expanding their market presence, reflecting the thriving animation industries in both countries. Additionally, Thailand joins the market as a new entrant.

Competing for Annecy's top prize are notable films, such as the sci-fi thriller "Mars Express", "Chicken for Linda!" and "The Inventor.”

Filmmakers Guillermo del Toro and Jorge R. Gutierrez will join a delegation of over 250 participants from Mexico, the festival's guest country of honor. The festival will also highlight queer-themed projects, conferences, and masterclasses as part of its program called "Animation, Pride, and Diversity."
