Disney+ has announced the ensemble cast for its upcoming series, Suspect: The Shooting of Jean Charles de Menezes. The series portrays the events surrounding the death of Jean Charles de Menezes, a Brazilian electrician mistakenly identified as a terrorist and fatally shot by police after the London 7/7 bombings.

Cast

Edison Alcaide, a newcomer, will portray Jean Charles de Menezes. The cast also includes Conleth Hill, Russell Tovey, Max Beesley, Emily Mortimer, Daniel Mays, Laura Aikman and Alex Jennings. Emily Mortimer takes on the role of Cressida Dick, who later became the chief of the Metropolitan Police. Conleth Hill portrays Sir Ian Blair, the police chief during the incident.

Series

Set to premiere in the spring, the series is written by Jeff Pope, produced by Kwadjo Dajan and directed by Paul Andrew Williams. Pope, Dajan and Williams also serve as executive producers. Lee Mason, Executive Director of Scripted, is the executive producer for Disney+. The series is produced by Etta Pictures, in association with KDJ Productions.

The series marks 20 years since the 7/7 London bombings. Jean Charles de Menezes was mistakenly identified as a suspect in the failed bombings that occurred two weeks after 7/7. De Menezes' family members are consulting on the series to ensure an accurate portrayal.
