Director Steven Caple Jr. eyes multiple sequels for Transformers Franchise, envisions Unicron as formidable villain
Director Steven Caple Jr. is envisioning multiple sequels centered around the formidable villain, Unicron, akin to the all-powerful threat of MCU's Thanos.

Transformers: Rise of the Beasts stands as one of the most eagerly anticipated entries in the franchise, introducing the Maximals, Predacons, and Terrorcons to the live-action Transformers universe. Following the soft-reboot and prequel of Bumblebee, the new film catapults viewers into the 1990s, where two humans find themselves embroiled in yet another conflict between various factions of the iconic robots in disguise.
In an interview with Den of Geek, Caple Jr. expressed his desire to expand upon the introduction of Unicron in future projects, although he has not yet been officially attached to any upcoming Transformers endeavor. He stated:
"I introduced Unicron. I was dying for Unicron to show up in a live-action movie, and to be honest, I'll put it out there, I want him to be across the next two or three films, a really huge major villain. I feel like we spent a lot of time on Earth, and it'd be interesting to see what else is out there, there are different Transformers and different planets, and we just need the right vehicle and the right team to really do it. I feel like this was the foundation of that, of something really special."
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts appears poised to become one of the franchise's most exceptional installments. Prior to the release of Bumblebee, the series had entered a repetitive phase, with critics often criticizing it, and audiences gradually losing interest in the spectacle of robots engaging in explosive battles, as epitomized by Michael Bay's directorial style.
However, Bumblebee presented a fresh approach, successfully returning the franchise to the 1980s, a nostalgic touch that resonated with a specific audience. Rise of the Beasts continues this trend, focusing on elevating the storytelling elements beyond the original films while delivering the expected thrills of metal-on-metal clashes.
