First reaction from Diddy’s defense: ‘media got it wrong’ after sex trafficking verdict
Following Sean “Diddy” Combs’ partial acquittal on federal charges, defense attorney Teny Geragos pushed back on media narratives, stating that Combs “hasn’t sexually assaulted anybody or sex-trafficked anybody.” The rapper was found not guilty on three charges, but convicted on two counts related to transportation for prostitution

Sean “Diddy” Combs’ legal team responded to Wednesday’s, July 2, federal jury verdict with a firm rejection of widespread media narratives, following the artist’s partial acquittal in a high-profile criminal case involving sex trafficking and racketeering allegations.
“Sean Combs hasn’t sexually assaulted anybody or sex-trafficked anybody,” said defense attorney Teny Geragos. “Media got it wrong.”

Geragos delivered the statement outside the courthouse shortly after the jury returned its verdict, clearing the music executive of three of the five counts filed against him by federal prosecutors.
The jury found Combs not guilty on Count 1 (racketeering), Count 2 (sex trafficking), and Count 4 (conspiracy to engage in sex trafficking). However, Combs was found guilty on Count 3 and Count 5, both involving transportation for prostitution, with a potential maximum sentence of 10 years for each count.
Teny Geragos, daughter of prominent defense attorney Mark Geragos, has been an active part of Combs’ legal defense throughout the trial. Her remarks represent the first public reaction from the defense following the verdict.
The split decision comes after months of high-profile testimony and media attention surrounding the case, which included multiple allegations and federal surveillance evidence.
Mark Geragos, also part of the defense team, previously characterized the prosecution as “overzealous” and “a colossal failure.”
Despite the two convictions, Combs’ legal team maintains that the majority of the government’s case failed to meet the burden of proof.
Sentencing is scheduled for late summer, and Combs remains in custody after being denied bail.
