The prosecution portrayed Combs and his staff as personally involved in planning the extravagant acts, collaborating with escorts, Combs' partners, and others.

In less than 30 minutes, Combs' lawyers concluded their case, and the defense chose not to call any witnesses. Combs' and Ventura Fine's romantic, and sometimes explicit, texts were the primary subject of their arguments.

The Grammy-winning rapper informed the court that he would not be testifying, despite the fact that Combs' alleged abuse is at the heart of the trial. When Judge Arun Subramanian asked Marc Agnifilo, Combs' lead attorney, if he had spoken with his client regarding his right to testify, Agnifilo replied that they had a lengthy conversation about it.
