Renowned Democratic Senator Brian Schatz recently criticized US Vice President Kamala Harris and the Democratic Party for using language that is unfamiliar and alienating to average US citizens, reported Fox News.

According to Fox News, in a Politico interview, Brian Schatz highlighted on some specific examples of ‘egregiously weird’ terminology such as using ‘center’ as a verb and the term ‘Latinx’ which he eventually argues that it disconnects politicians from voters.

Brian Schatz put an emphasis on the fact that the Democrats have developed a communication style which is actually rooted in academic and advocacy language and that eventually feels performative and out of touch, asserted Fox News. He also cited some personal examples like using ‘cessation of hostilities’ instead of using the more straightforward ‘ceasefire’ to actually illustrate that how party members end up overcomplicating their message.


While acknowledging the fact that US Vice President Kamala Harris ran a pretty well executed campaign, at the same time, Brian Schatz also suggested that her loss to US President- elect Donald Trump was partly due to the party's inability to communicate in relatable terms. Additionally, he also advocated for using ‘maximally popular’ language and warned against being constrained by activist driven ‘magic words’ that does not resonate with the broader electorate, noted Fox News.
