The former wife of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, novelist and philanthropist MacKenzie Scott, was accused by Tesla founder and X owner Elon Musk in November 2024 of destroying western civilisation. For instance, the assertion was made in a Reddit post that was archived: 2,200 people had upvoted the post.
The assertion is true. Musk accused Scott in a March 6, 2024, X post of being the reason Western Civilisation died.
Musk had previously criticized Scott for her philanthropic efforts, accusing her of donating to Democrats, whom he perceived were attacking Tesla. In the same exchange, he suggested Scott was turning on all tech industry moguls to retaliate against her ex-husband, Bezos.
