The Powerball jackpot is climbing again after no ticket matched all six numbers in Wednesday’s drawing. For Saturday’s drawing, the grand prize is set at $50 million, with a cash option of $23.4 million, according to Powerball.com.

Just days earlier, on September 6, two lucky tickets sold in Missouri and Texas shared a staggering $1.787 billion jackpot - the second-largest lottery prize in US history. That record-setting win ended a streak of 41 consecutive drawings without a jackpot winner.

Before that, the most recent jackpot hit came on May 31. Powerball’s daunting odds of 1 in 292.2 million are specifically designed to fuel massive jackpots, with prize amounts soaring higher each time no one claims the top prize. The authorities have yet to announce the official winner.
