A ‘Welcome to Hell’ advertisement in New York City of the newly launched Diablo IV game has attracted the attention of the viewers.

Diablo IV, which is the latest game in this successful role-playing series where players battle the demons of hell, has launched recently.

Diablo IV's Hell-themed New York campaign seems to have an unfortunate timing as the advertisement is getting displayed at a time when the city is witnessing thick clouds of smoke and the sky has turned orange due to the numerous wildfires raging in Canada.


“Welcome to hell, New York,” said the billboard, located in Times Square, New York. After noticing the poster, many users on social media posted their comments about the advertisement.



On Twitter, a user posted, "The perfect ad doesn’t exist…" Another user said, "Blizzard got their New York Marketing game down to a science." A netizen commented, "[This] has never been more accurate."

Another user posted, “Damn Blizzard going hard on marketing.” A user on Twitter joked, "New York pulled off the best Diablo IV promo collaboration." Another person on social media said, “This next level promo.”

"This could not be better advertizing with the haze," wrote another user. "Perfect timing", said another person.

Video game company Activision Blizzard’s executive has also given a statement on social media. “I would like to clarify that Blizzard has no affiliation or partnership with the wildfires in Canada. In fact we are firmly against wildfires and condemn them in the strongest terms," Lulu Cheng Meservey, who is EVP Corporate Affairs and CCO, Activision Blizzard posted on Twitter.
