Blizzard has shared details about the upcoming Season 8 of Diablo 4. The Public Test Realm (PTR) will run from March 11 to 18, 2025. The full release date is not confirmed, but it is expected to arrive in early May after Season 7 ends on April 29, 2025. The season will focus on boss battles, new mechanics and difficulty changes.

PTR Schedule and Release Window

Blizzard announced during the last Campfire Chat that the Season 8 PTR will begin on March 11, 2025. The testing phase will last until March 18, 2025. The official release date for Season 8 has not been confirmed. However, since Season 7 ends on April 29, 2025, Season 8 is expected to launch in early May 2025.

New Boss Mechanics and Boss Powers

Season 8 will introduce changes to boss battles. Blizzard aims to make these fights easier to access and more rewarding. The process of unlocking endgame bosses will be simplified. A new system using Lair Keys will replace the current summoning mechanics. These keys will allow players to find and battle bosses without a lengthy process.

The update will affect all existing bosses, including Andariel and Duriel. Additionally, bosses from the Vessel of Hatred campaign, such as Urivar and the Harbinger of Hatred, will be added as endgame bosses.

A new boss, Belial, the Lord of Lies, will also be introduced. Belial was a major antagonist in Diablo 3. Blizzard has described him as the most challenging boss of Season 8, offering the highest rewards. He is expected to be a central figure in both the season’s story and endgame battles.
