According to ESPN, Booker’s new extension carries an annual salary of $72.5 million, surpassing the $71.25 million average annual value of Shai Gilgeous-Alexander’s $285 million supermax deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder - making it the richest annual salary in NBA history.
With the new two-year extension, Booker is now under contract with the Suns for five years totaling $316 million.
Booker, selected 13th overall by the Suns in the 2015 NBA Draft, has spent his entire 10-year career in Phoenix. This marks his third contract extension with the franchise, reaffirming his long-term commitment with the Suns.
At 28, Booker remains one of the league’s elite shooting guards, a four-time All-Star and two-time All-NBA selection who has averaged 24.4 points over his 10-year career since being drafted 13th overall in 2015.
However, Booker posted 25.6 points, 7.1 assists, and 4.1 rebounds on 46% shooting in a disappointing 2024–25 campaign.
Despite having Booker alongside Kevin Durant and Bradley Beal, the Suns missed the playoffs, prompting a major front office overhaul. Coach Mike Budenholzer was let go after just one season and replaced by former Cavs assistant Jordan Ott. GM James Jones was also dismissed, with Brian Gregory taking over.
The new regime wasted no time reshaping the roster - trading Durant to Houston in a massive seven-team deal that brought in Jalen Green and Dillon Brooks.
