Destiny 2: Keith David to replace Lance Reddick as Commander Zavala. Details here

After Lance Reddick, who played Commander Zavala in ‘Destiny 1’ died earlier this year, Keith David will replace him in ‘Destiny 2’. David will make his first appearance with Destiny 2’s upcoming ‘The Final Shape expansion’. It will be launched in 2024.

Confirming his role, David said in a statement, “I am honored to continue the great work of Lance Reddick as Zavala. Lance captured the character’s sense of integrity so wonderfully. It is my intention to continue that work.”

Earlier, David voiced The Arbiter in Bungie’s Halo series. He also acted in ‘Mass Effect’, ‘Call of Duty’ and ‘Saints Row’. Lance Reddick was known for his roles in the John Wick films, ‘The Wire’ and Bungie’s Destiny games.


Zavala is crucial to the story of Destiny and Reddick has been portraying this from the very beginning. He served as a Titan vanguard. David has acted in films like ‘The Thing’, ‘They Live’, and ‘Nope’.

Praising David, Bungie said in a statement on the website, that the team is excited for what David would bring to the role of the commander. He said, “We will always remain respectful to the role Zavala has played thus far, and look forward to the journey ahead.”
