Destiny 2’s Episode Heresy Act 3 arrives on April 1, 2025. This is the last major update before the launch of Destiny 2: Frontiers in summer 2025.

Release Date and Weekly Reset Time

Episode Heresy Act 3 will be available on April 1, 2025, during Destiny 2’s weekly reset. The reset time on April 1 for different time zones is 9 AM PT, 12 Noon ET, 5 PM GMT and 6 PM CET. On April 2, it will be 3 AM AEST.

Sunless Cell Strike

The Sunless Cell Strike from Destiny’s Taken King expansion has been reworked for Heresy Act 3. The exact changes are unknown, but Bungie confirmed that it will not be the same as the original version. The updated strike will include a new final boss instead of Aluk-Hul, the Darkblade. The narrative will also reflect Destiny 2’s current storyline.

Rite of the Nine Event

Rite of the Nine is a limited-time event in Heresy Act 3. Players will face tougher versions of existing Dungeons. The event will rotate three standalone dungeons, Prophecy, Spire of the Watcher and Ghosts of the Deep. Guardians who complete these challenges will earn updated versions of iconic weapons with new visuals and perk pools.

Heavy Metal PvP Mode

Heavy Metal is a new Crucible mode focused on vehicular combat. Players will control Fallen Brigs and Drake tanks in team-based battles. Unlike Trials of Osiris and Iron Banner, this mode emphasizes arcade-style action rather than traditional player-versus-player competition.

Barrow-Dyad Catalysts

Heresy Act 3 introduces the final two Catalysts for the Exotic Strand SMG and Barrow-Dyad. These Catalysts provide two new perks, One For All and Target Lock. The unlocking process is unclear, but players will likely need to complete tasks similar to those required in Act 2.

Final Artifact Mods

The last set of Heresy’s Artifact Mods will become available in Act 3. Their details remain unknown, but previous mods focused on Trace Rifles, Strand and Arc. Bungie may shift focus to other underused subclasses or weapon types for balance.
